Below please find instructions and resources to create and manage course assignments/labs and enable students to engage with their material and assignments, offering enhanced learning opportunities anywhere, anytime, accessing via the web on a multitude of devices.
Conclusions from studies in which students used virtual or augmented reality reveal that struggling medical students benefit from incorporating 3D anatomy into the gross anatomy course of study. Three-dimensional tools help them understand spatial relationships within the human body, and the popularity of Visible Body products has risen alongside the pervasiveness of 3D visual technology in anatomy labs and healthcare professions. This 2017 anatomy instructor survey includes a summary and the data on the growing demand for visual reference materials in anatomy and physiology programs. Anatomy and Physiology can be one of the most challenging courses for students pursuing a healthcare career. Mobile and web-based products enable students to study wherever they are and track their own learning.
Courseware is Visible Body's all-in-one web-based teaching, learning and assessment platform. This LMS-like system is loaded with Visible Body's award-winning content, combining Human Anatomy Atlas, Muscle Premium, Anatomy & Physiology, and Physiology Animations. Courseware allows instructors to select from a wide variety of course materials or add their own and easily create an interactive course. Its robust quizzing includes multiple-choice, short-answer, and our one-of-a-kind interactive anatomy dissection quizzes.
After instructors assign courses, Courseware will capture all graded assignments and reports on student performance, which can be transferred to LMS systems such as Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, and D2L. As a web-based teaching and learning platform equipped with Visible Body's award-winning content, you can use Courseware to custom-design visual and interactive courses delivered over the web or by selecting one of the pre-made courses available on the platform. Courseware includes its own learning management software as well as the content from these four Visible Body segments currently available from Ovid:
Courseware is accessed via the browser and available only in English at this time.
Students with access to Courseware through their school or institution will need to create accounts through that institution's WiFi network or library portal. Once that account is created, the students will retain access to Courseware for a year, so they can sign in again from anywhere. Students must re-authenticate once a year by signing in again through the institution's network.
There are two ways to re-authenticate:
If you have additional questions about accessing Courseware from off campus, please contact your instructor, librarian, or IT help desk department for your school.
Courseware is a web-based platform you can access on Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. It includes mobile downloads (iOS or Android) of VisibleBody apps as well as web versions of the apps. Courseware products are available on both the latest and the most widely-used (but slightly less new) devices. You can check this article to see if your devices are compatible. All students receive personal reference copies of the apps in the Courseware platform. These personal copies of the mobile apps, available for Android and iOS, are not time-limited but are specific to the device on which they were originally downloaded. Although the apps provide mobile access, the LMS/Courseware functionality is delivered exclusively on desktop devices.
Courseware's robust quizzing includes multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, and one-of-a-kind interactive anatomy quizzes. Instructors can assign quizzes 'out of the box' or edit premade quizzes. Dissection quizzing helps reinforce the learning that usually goes on inside an anatomy lab. Students rotate, zoom in, and dissect a virtual anatomy model to pin the correct answer. Each student's performance reports to the grade book. Instructors may use premade quizzes, select from 3,500 test items in the bank or search and filter for questions or premade quizzes by topic, learning objective, or Bloom's taxonomy.
We offer trial subscriptions for faculty; please contact your Ovid salesperson to find out how to set up a Courseware trial for your institution. VisibleBody Courseware requires a 24-hour setup time. Also, our authentication requires that students and faculty connect to the product via IP address. As with all Visible Body products, OpenAthens/Shibboleth is not officially supported. Please confirm students can IP-validate for the best customer experience! Tech Support can assist with validation questions.
After creating your Visible Body account with a username and password, log back into the platform whenever you want to visit by following these simple steps:

We offer courses correlated to your textbook that include assignments including learning modules, anatomy ID and customizable multiple choice and dissection assessments. We also offer fillable lab activities that are designed to move your students through our apps in a meaningful way. Students can download and complete online, then submit one assignment via your course LMS.
