Find a Book
Search the library catalogue to find books which are available from Gateshead Health NHS Library and Knowledge Services.
You can also search for and read ebooks including Oxford Handbooks and the Wiley Leadership and Management collection. (You will need an NHS OpenAthens user ID and Password to read ebooks).
Find a book or ebook
For best results enter key words which describe your topic, a book title or an author surname. For more tips on effective searching read our help guide.
Borrow a book
You can borrow up to ten books at any one time. You can also borrow past issues of journals.
Use the self-service machine in the library to borrow, return and renew books out of staffed hours (you will need to have your library card with you to use the self-service machine).
Using ebooks
QE Gateshead have access to two main collections of ebooks – Oxford Clinical Handbooks and a Leadership and Management collection.

Reserve a book
To reserve a book which is out on loan, or only available from another NHS library…
You may reserve up to ??? book. The library will notify you when your book is ready to collect.

Request or suggest a book
If the book you want is not available in the library catalogue you can use our Inter Library Loan service or suggest the library purchase this book for the collection.
Students are advised to check their University library catalogue before making an Inter Library Loan request.
