Statistics – How to calculate cost-per-article using COUNTER 5 metrics
Libraries are under increasing pressure to justify their expenditure. Over the past decade, library administrators have become more interested in using cost-per-use techniques in their reports to quantify the worth of e-resources. The most common approach is to calculate how much the product cost during a given period, divided by how many times it was used.
In this short webinar, we will show how to calculate cost-per-article, looking at examples of COUNTER 5 Standard Views and comparing them to the corresponding COUNTER 4 reports. We will briefly point out the most important changes, and we will show the effects the new metric types have on cost-per-article calculations.
