Background
The terms for indigenous populations in New Zealand and across the Pacific has recently changed. So from 2024 we have a more easily recognizable set of MeSH terms. The term “Maori People” is a new term beginning this year. The old term “Oceanic Ancestry group” (a broader term) was replaced this year by Oceanians – including Australiasian People, Pacific Island People, and other pacific islander peoples. Because this is a new term, keyword-type searches are required to capture records before 2023. Where necessary geographic location is used to narrow results.
