APA PsycInfo Database Update

Dear Ovid APA PsycInfo Customer,

Starting the week of 28 April 2025, the APA is making the following changes to APA PsycInfo, affecting the Methodology, DocumentType, and PopulationGroup check tag groups. See details below:

  • Nonbinary (45) added to “PopulationGroup” (PO) and Population Group limits
  • Discussion (0350) and Mega Analysis (1100) added to “Methodology” (MD), and to the Methodology limits
  • Expression of Concern (3450) and Retracted Article (4450) added to “DocumentType” (DT) and the Document Type limits
  • Retraction (4500) updated to Notice of Retraction (3900) in “DocumentType” (DT).

While these changes may lead to minor increases in results where these check tags are used searching the PO, MD, and DT fields, or using the corresponding Ovid limits, they will not break or significantly affect existing searches or AutoAlerts. However, please be advised to update any searches for “retraction.dt” or  “4500.dt”, to “Notice of Retraction.dt” or “3900.dt”.

These updates will be applied to nearly 2 million APA PsycInfo records, and as a consequence the APA decided to skip the weekly update for 1 May 2025. Because of this, you will receive fewer or no AutoAlert results around that time. Weekly updates and AutoAlerts will resume with the APA PsycInfo update for 8 May 2025.

If you have any questions, your local Ovid representative will be glad to help. Feel free to reach out to your account representative or contact the team at [email protected].

Regards,

Wolters Kluwer - Ovid
