New Ovid Term Finder Release and Update

Dear Ovid Customer:

As we continue to improve the Ovid platform, we are pleased to announce the release of Emtree Term Finder for Embase. In parallel, there will be an update to the existing APA Thesaurus Term Finder fixing an issue with the search function. Ovid MEDLINE continues to feature MeSH Term Finder.

Term Finder will be available on the Advanced Search page, starting 14 November 2024. Term Finder helps users access key information as they construct their search without having to leave the Advanced Search page.

Users will see the Expand Term Finder button on the Advanced Search page:

Clicking on will launch an overlay window that will allow searchers to easily find terms and add them to their search or copy to the clipboard without having to cycle through multiple pages. Term Finder does not affect any existing workflows on Ovid. Instead, it helps users discover terms and construct complex searches.

Key features in Term Finder include:

  • Mapped Emtree Results
  • Results from Emtree Permuted Index
  • Related Terms from the Unified Medical Language System (UMLS)
  • Full hierarchical tree display showing all contexts for the selected Emtree heading
  • Interactive Emtree browser
  • Add to search functionality supporting Select All, explode, focus, AND/OR operators, copy to clipboard and subheadings.

If you have any questions, your local Ovid representative will be glad to help. Feel free to reach out to your account representative or contact the team at [email protected].

Regards,
