Annual MEDLINE® Reload: Final 2016 MEDLINE Update Scheduled – November 2016

Annual MEDLINE® Reload: Final 2016 MEDLINE Update Scheduled

Dear Ovid MEDLINE® Customer:

We are preparing for the annual global data reload of MEDLINE. As in past years, the National Library of Medicine (NLM®) will end their 2016 distribution of updates (adding fully-indexed MEDLINE citations to PubMed) in order to make the transition to the 2017 version of MeSH®; the final NLM update took place on November 14, 2016. The MEDLINE In-Process & Other Non-Indexed Citations updates will resume shortly after this and continue throughout the full reload process.

In accordance with the NLM schedule, the November Week 3 2016 update will be the last 2016 update and will be available to Ovid MEDLINE subscribers on November 23, 2016.
NLM is expected to complete their reload in mid-December; they will keep indexing citations, but these completed records will be held and not added to PubMed until the normal update schedule resumes. From then, PubMed will use 2017 vocabulary in the MeSH® translation tables and MeSH database, as well as in the citation data. We will keep you informed on the production of our 2017 edition of MEDLINE accordingly.

Important note for users who currently have an AutoAlert saved on Ovid MEDLINE

While MEDLINE global data maintenance is being performed, no new records are added to MEDLINE. Since the data is not being updated by the NLM, AutoAlert searches in MEDLINE will not be generated by Ovid. The search results generated during that time will include all new data added since the previous update.
