Leaders, managers and clinical leads

The library supports leaders, managers and clinical leads through providing tailored resources and support.  Find information to help you research, manage projects and stay up to date with the latest local and national issues.  Access to key NHS management resources are provided via the library, including a dedicated book and ebook collection, a range of electronic journals and databases, and personalised current awareness alerts using KnowledgeShare (a current awareness service which sends updates by areas of professional interest) and the personalised features of the library Discovery tool.

Research databases which you have access to as a leader, manager or clinical lead include Health Business Elite (HBE) and Health Management Information Consortium (HMIC).  These can be searched individually or simultaneously using Healthcare Databases (HDAS) – which also comprises Pubmed, Medline, CINAHL, EMBASE, AMED and BNI, covering nursing, medicine and allied health.   Within HBE and HMIC key journals include Harvard Business Review, British Journal of Healthcare Management, Clinical Leadership and Management Review, Healthcare Leadership Review, Leadership in Health Services, Reflections on Nursing Leadership and Strategy and Leadership.  Health Service Journal can be accessed by emailing the Trust Director’s office to request a subscription.

Log in to the library Discovery tool, or direct to databases, using your NHS OpenAthens user ID and password which will unlock subscription research, allowing you to read research, set up search alerts and current awareness alerts to keep up to date with the latest published research in clinical and management topics.

The library has a tailored Leadership area collecting the best open access resources from across the web together into subject/topic areas.  Other useful sources of information, news and tools include Kings FundNHS Improvement and North East Leadership Academy and Healthcare Leadership Model and Royal college resources for clinical leads – paediatricsopthamologynursinggp’s

In addition to all of the above the library also offers an Inter Library Loan service, extending the reach of collections to books and research items held in other libraries.
