Find a Book

Search the library catalogue to find books which are available from Gateshead Health NHS Library and Knowledge Services, or from other libraries in North East NHS libraries.

You can also search for and read ebooks including Oxford Handbooks and the Wiley Leadership and Management collection. (You will need an NHS OpenAthens user ID and password to read ebooks).

You can borrow up to ten books. Use the self-service machine in the library to borrow, return and renew books out of staffed hours (you will need to have your library card with you to borrow or renew books using the self-service machine).

For best results enter key words which describe your topic, a book title or an author surname. If you are searching for a specific book, an author surname and key words from the title combined, usually give the best results.

To narrow results to only those books available at Gateshead use the left hand limit panel on your results list to choose ‘Queen Elizabeth Hospital’ under the Copy Location heading.

To reserve a book which is out on loan please complete a request form, or log into the library catalogue (with your library barcode number and password) where you can reserve items online for collection at the library.

To request a book which is not part of the library catalogue but may be available from another library please complete an Interlibrary loan request.
