Embase Reload Complete – February 2019

Embase Reload Complete

Dear Ovid Embase Customer:

The Embase (EMED) Database was successfully reloaded on Monday February 25, 2019. Alerts were run on the weekend of February 23, 2019 prior to the reload.

The reload implemented the latest 2018.03 Thesaurus Tool. The changes in the new Emtree thesaurus are detailed by Elsevier in these locations:
•   Emtree Terms Changed in September 2018
•   Emtree 2018 release notes

In addition, Ovid has made the following changes:

•   Dorland’s dictionary definitions are now made available in the Scope Notes.
•   By customer request, check tags search functionality has been disabled.

•   1 New Field
o   Grant Organization Number (GN)
•   2 New Subheadings:
o   special situation for pharmacovigilance (pv)
o   unexpected outcome of drug treatment ™.

We would also like to inform you that we are currently investigating an issue with the display of subheadings in Embase for the Subject Heading field (SH). It appears that the introduction of the new subheadings (pv and tm) in the data for a small number of records added to Embase during fall 2018 has caused a shift in the position of subheadings. The problem was fixed with this reload, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.

By customer request, check tags search functionality were disabled with this reload. Instead of automatically executing the search when you enter a check tag in Advanced Search (e.g. Child, Adult, Animals, Humans etc), Ovid now maps you to the corresponding subject heading. This change does not affect saved searches or AutoAlerts.

If you have any questions, please contact Customer Support at support@ovid.com.

Regards,

Wolters Kluwer – Ovid
